Mental Health and Addictions Services
The Community Counselling Program focuses on prevention, healing, and wellness. It is a comprehensive program that provides support to the residents in each community of the Sahtu region. Services are provided by mental health and addictions counsellors. Counselling is offered on an individual, couple, family, or group basis, and encompasses a wide range of issues from: stress and coping skills, mental health issues, addictions issues, family violence, grief and loss, crisis intervention, suicide intervention, etc.
Key components of the Community Counselling program:
- Supportive and Therapeutic Counselling
- Crisis Intervention
- Referrals to resources (addiction treatment programs, family violence shelters, etc)
- Health promotion and education
- Workshops (grief and healing gatherings, suicide intervention skills training, supportive sharing circles, etc)
